Good Golly Miss Molly the weather has been absolutely frightful as of late. Luckily the puppies love to play inside and rest up in front of the fire in the evening.

Someone is off on a big adventure . . .

I think the chickens are probably a bit relieved they are now back behind the farm gate!

Chicken training has begun on the farm.

Henny Penny is just a blur when she realises the puppies are on their way.

A couple of shades of Coonhound in one photograph!

In the front, the funny guy with his tongue out and in the back a silhouette of the glorious elegance of a typical Coonhound head and the rest being typical scenthounds.

Sawyer, Rowdy and Westley playing in the "ivy tunnel" (shame about the poor video quality!)

Sawyer - The best of the 'Good Ole Boys' just hanging out, chillin' getting his weigh-in done 'n dusted.

The puppies are all eating well and trying lots of different foods so that they can have a versatile palate when they go off to their new homes.

The puppies are all growing beautifully and have such gorgeous shiny coats displaying their good health.

They are all off on a car trip this week for a visit to the Vet for their first vaccination.

It has been very wet and muddy here, but there has been some excitement as a very bedraggled hen turned up with five chicks in tow to show us!

Rowdy seems to be looking at me with "Awww Mama, do you SEE the chickies - aren't they Lovely?" in his eyes.

While all the other puppies are crowding round to look at the new chicks, Westley is being his usual sweet self and looking at his Mama.

We have found our Black & Tan Coonhounds to be very maternal - even the males. One of our earlier B&TCs used to come on the Lambing Beat with me and the sheep were never bothered about him being there.

He also once scooped up a newborn chick into his mouth - I shouted "NO" so he dropped the chickie into my hand, completely unharmed and seemingly unfazed, but a just a little touch soggy.

The puppies love getting out and about to explore their environment and learn about the world -

but they also love their bed-time!

Just like toddlers, the puppies get tired and need lots of sleep for growing - so making time for naps is a must!

As it states in the Black & Tan Coonhound Breed Standard "a working scent hound, must be able to work in close contact with other hounds" - although this pack of hounds are all siblings, you can see when they are heading off on adventures, they all stick close together.

Using their noses is certainly a powerful instinct for them!

Our other Black & Tan Coonhounds have worked in together with various breeds and different ages successfully which has been most useful.

We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of our very precious puppies. Trinity did an amazing job with the natural birth and continues to nurture them and look after their well-being. Trinity is showing excellent maternal behaviour and we couldn't be more pleased with how Trinity is coping and how the puppies are growing

As always, we are prepared well in advance, so Trinity deciding to have her babies a little early didn't throw us off our stride (although we got a little surprise!). Once we had her settled, she started quite quickly and had her first puppy (a boy!) at 2.58pm. Very civilised timing, thank you. She finished at 9.42pm and we all had some well-deserved sleep that night.

Trinity continues to be a super mother and is looking after the puppies beautifully!

They are two weeks old now. With eyes opening,  they are starting to wobble around the whelping pen exploring.

Climbing up on top is Tucker who is getting to be quite adventurous.

Here is a gorgeous puppy pile, snuggling up to their owl whilst Mama Trinity has a little break - and something more to eat.

Trinity is definitely enjoying having second breakfasts and elevenses plus all her other meals rather like

a Hobbit!
